Tokyo (Ikebukuro & Ueno)
Immerse yourself in shopping madness in Ueno as you can get authentic branded goods at cheap prices and buy anything you need at this place! I myself was awed at the 'coolness' of things in that area, but well, prices are also 'nice' in a way. However, guys really have a lot to get in this street. There are shoes, patterned jeans, Tee's and everything. So, take a day off to slowly enjoy Ueno when you visit Japan! =)
Moving out of there, I would move on to the 'HOMEGROUND' I was at during the stay in Tokyo. So, we stayed in the Hotel Metropolitan at Ikebukuro. I would say, this was one of the best hotels that I have stayed in as service is great and the deluxe room is clean, comfortable and really nice for you to relax in! There was bath salt for spa's everyday and free internet! But the best part of it was that you could look out the window and watch over the busy area of Ikebukuro.
I love the town area of Ikebukuro as they had lot's of food and even malls like Lumine just outside my hotel door step. But the best would be the night streets just around the area which included Parco, Big Camera, Tokyu Hands and many anime and shopping stores! Anyway, one of the highlights in this area would be the two anime hubs just opposite the Sunshine Prince Hotel. This was one of the best and most popular anime stores in Japan, Animate & K Books! These two stores just give you everything you want from cosplay, wigs, books, figurines, fan stuff and more. LOVE big time. =)
However, for non-anime geeks, check out the night street with maid cafes, food, Pachinko and more stores, branded and non-branded!
I would really recommend this place to stay as it is convenient to take trains and also a place for people who won't even wish to go far from your hotel and yet get everything you need in the vicinity! GREAT PLACE~
